The Singapore Tourism Board continues with its blaze of attractive promotions for 2009 under the umbrella “2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore” campaign, positioning Singapore as a value-for-money destination with a variety of unique experiences for all visitors to indulge in.
Chooi Yee Choong, Regional Director ASEAN (Islands) and Oceania, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced the “2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore” with the latest cost-saving promotion to Singapore via Batam. This was announced in a media gathering at The Only 1 Club, fX Lifestyle X’enter, Jakarta. The “2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore” is a year-long campaign and has been tailored to meet the local Indonesian needs and desires, where Indonesians will be pampered with numerous quality, exciting and attractive and affordable travel deals, offerings, and unique experiences in Singapore.
Chooi commented, “We are very grateful to have two great partners in Mandala Airlines and Batamfast ferry to support us in our “2009 Reasons to enjoy Singapore” campaign. This joint partnership illustrates our commitment to continually improve our services and provide a seamless experience for Indonesians visiting Singapore via Batam with air and sea connectivity.”
President Director of Mandala Airlines, Diono Nurjadin said that the cooperation between Mandala and Singapore Tourism Board has started last year in 2008. Diono said, “We have witnessed that previous cooperation has resulted positive response from the passengers of Mandala who would travel to Singapore via Batam. Mandala provides 84 flights a week to Batam (incoming and outgoing flight). The flight schedule from Jakarta to Batam is twice a day and from Medan, Padang, Surabaya and Pekanbaru are once a day. In terms of passengers carried, Mandala is no one for outgoing passengers from Batam. As we provide high commitment on safety, reliability and friendly services, Mandala has been the airline of choice. The cooperation between the three parties which are Mandala, STB and Batamfast could boost the tourism industry for both countries. We are delighted to be part of this program. While enjoy flying with the new and modern Airbus A320 and A319 with the youngest fleet in Indonesia, Mandala’s passengers will benefit a big discount for ferry tickets from Batamfast and also experience fabulous tourist attraction in Singapore.”
Chooi continued: “We know that Batam has always been one of the popular gateways to Singapore for Indonesians since it is only 45 minutes by ferry to reach Singapore. This promotion with Mandala Airlines and Batamfast also aims at bringing greater convenience to the more budget conscious Indonesians who are seeking for a more cost effective option to visit Singapore. With the regular flight services by Mandala Airlines from key cities of Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Padang and Pekanbaru to Batam and the 12 daily Batamfast ferry service to Singapore, Indonesians can visit Singapore anytime with absolute comfort and convenience.”
For this promo, Mandala has collaborated with the wholesalers to prepare a list of hotels with room starting from USD46. These hotels range from 2 star to 5 star hotels. STB understands that transportation and accommodation are 2 important components in preparing a travel plan.
