Indias LCCs replace finance executives

Changes in the executive ranks at Indias LCCs continued this month, with the following exits and appointments:
<p>GoAir announced (06-Feb-07) the appointment of GP Gupta as the company’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Managing Director, Jeh Wadia, stated “Mr Gupta’s addition to our senior management team will ensure rapid growth of our company. I look forward to working with him closely, as we exploit new market opportunities, and capitalise on the strong momentum already evident in the business”. Mr Gupta was formerly VP Finance with Spicejet and played a key role in developing their business plan.
GoAir has flown over 1 million passengers since the commencement of services on 04-Nov-05. The carrier currently operates 7 Airbus A320 aircraft connecting 13 cities with 385 weekly services.
SpiceJet appointed (01-Feb-07) Partha Sarthi Basu as its new Chief Financial Officer. Director, Ajay Singh, stated “with his strong credentials and rich experience, Basu is a valuable addition to SpiceJet”.
Deccan Aviation, parent of Air Deccan, announced (14-Feb-07) the appointment of Ramki Sundaram as Finance Director, replacing Mohan Kumar. Sundaram, an investment banker, led UK-based Investec Bank's aviation unit before joining Deccan. Investec Bank holds 1.96% of Deccan and also funds a firm that has acquired the rights for future aircraft deliveries from the Indian airline. Mohan Kumar was associated with Air Deccan since its inception in 2003. He will continue to advise Air Deccan on its charter and MRO businesses.
IndiGo appointed (01-Feb-07) Amit Khandelwal as VP Planning and Revenue Management. Mr Khandelwal has had a 15 year career in the airline industry and has worked in areas of business development, revenue strategy and programme management. President and CEO, Bruce Ashby, stated, “Amit's significant experience in airline network planning and revenue management will strengthen the commercial team at IndiGo in critical area as we continue to grow”. IndiGo will take delivery of eight A320s in 2007, increasing its fleet to 15 and to 40 by 2010. </p>
