easyJet takes off from Dusseldorf Dusseldorf International has welcomed a new airline: easyJet has started its activities at North Rhine-Westphalia's largest airport with a top-grade metropolitan connection. From now on the British airline starts from Dusseldorf to Basle twelve times a week. The Airbus A319 airplanes take off from the federal states' capital early in the morning and late in the evening; at 8.45 am and at 9.20 pm on Mondays, at 1.00 pm on Saturdays as well as at 9.20 pm on Sundays. The flight time is about one hour and 20 minutes.
"It's a pleasure to welcome another important airline in Dusseldorf," says Christoph Blume, CEO of the airport management. "Dusseldorf International provides the most dense and most attractive route network of North Rhine-Westphalia. EasyJet's top-grade metropolitan connections in the low-budget segment, which are equally interesting for business travellers and tourists, expand and strengthen the varied offer for our passengers."
Thomas Haagensen, CEO easyJet Germany, is glad as well: "Offering Dusseldorf as a new destination is an important step for us. By this we are further increasing our offer on heavily travelled routes and we are providing reasonable and attractive alternatives for the passengers."
Thanks to its excellent position on the Rhine and at the center of the region in which Switzerland, France and Germany meet, Basle has always been a traditional traffic junction and Switzerland's most dynamic economic region. Important branches are the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, business finance, arts and the insurance industry as well as logistics. There's a lot to discover for tourists, too. Basle has about 40 museums, a beautiful old town, many parks and an extensive range of leisure time activities, a varied world of restaurant trade and best shopping possibilities. Enthusiasts for the opera, the ballet and the drama, too, get their money's worth.
From February on with easyJet also to Rome and London
From February next year easyJet will increase the number of destinations from their new location Dusseldorf by offering Rome Fiumicino and London Gatwick in addition. The take-offs to Rome will take place Mondays to Fridays and on Sundays at 8.40 pm as well as on Saturdays at 6.55 pm from February 1. On February 2 easyJet will take up flights to Gatwick: Mondays to Fridays at 4.45 pm, Saturdays at 2.55 pm, Sundays at 4.50 pm.
