The addition of Tenerife and Cyprus (Paphos) to the airline’s operations at Bristol will take the total number of routes on offer to 41, providing travellers with the opportunity to enjoy some early sunshine in 2010 from their local airport.
The new Airbus 320 is a larger aircraft seating 180 passengers and gives the airline the ability to fly longer distances, which means easyJet can now offer not only short haul European destinations, but also medium haul routes to areas such as the Canaries and Cyprus.
The three times weekly service (Tue, Fri & Sat) to Tenerife commences on 30 March, with fares from £35.99 one way (£61.81 return), whilst the four times weekly service (Mon, Wed, Sat & Sun) to Paphos in Cyprus commences on 14 April with fares from £32.99 (£64.98 return)
Sophie Dekkers, easyJet’s Commercial Manager, said:
“easyJet is committed to its regional bases and is delighted to announce the new aircraft for Bristol. Over 40% of our UK network is outside of London and these new routes to Tenerife and Cyprus will provide an even greater choice of sunshine destinations for the people of the South West, with easyJet’s convenient and flexible services at low prices from your local airport.”
Robert Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer of Bristol International Airport, added:
“Today’s announcement demonstrates easyJet’s continued commitment to the region. Passengers from across the South West and Wales now have an even wider choice of destinations, and the addition of a new Airbus A320 to the aircraft based at Bristol International will bring benefits in terms of improved product range and aircraft performance.”
