Clickair, a subsidiary of the Iberia Airlines group, launched regular services from Barcelona to Domodedovo International Airport (Moscow), using A320 aircraft.
"The route is popular among Catalans and Moscovites. It is in demand by tourists and to the same degree by businessmen. We'll see to what extent our expectations will come true, and whether we'll launch flights from Domodedovo to other Spanish cities in future," said Clickair marketing director Jaime Lloret.
Clickair has become the 74th airline to operate regular services to Domodedovo International Airport and the third LCC at Domodedovo after Italy's Wind Jet and Austria's NIKI.
Clickair was established in 2006 and is based in Barcelona El Prat. The airline's fleet comprises five A320s. The airline said it plans to expand it to 17 aircraft by the end of the year and further increase it to 30 aircraft by 2009. At present, the airline's route network covers 34 destinations in Spain, Europe and Morocco.
