Frontier Airlines to lease 3 new A320s from AWAS
Dublin-based lessor AWAS today announced the lease of 3 new Airbus A320s to Frontier Airlines, a US-based wholly owned subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. AWAS’ three new aircraft will deliver in 2011 in support of Frontier’s competitive strategy of shifting its fleet to the highly cost-effective A320 platform.
Frontier’s 162-seat A320 aircraft feature comfortable all-leather seating with DIRECTV(r) service in every seatback. The carrier currently operates a total of 54 Airbus aircraft, seven of which are A320s.“We’re delighted to add Frontier Airlines as a new customer to AWAS. They have one of the youngest Airbus
fleets in
North America and we are pleased to play a role in their A320 fleet build-up.” Said Franklin Pray, President & CEO of AWAS “This transaction builds on the broad success that we’ve achieved in placing equipment from our new aircraft order book.”“The sourcing of these new A320s from AWAS is yet another step in the execution of our fleet optimization plans. Frontier Airlines will become more competitive with a net
capacity increase while achieving a reduction in
unit costs.” Bryan Bedford, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Republic Airways Holdings.
