Japan's Orix to buy 10% stake in AirAsia X - report

(XFN Asia) Japanese leasing company, Orix Corp, is expected to agree this month to acquire a 10% stake in AirAsia X for more than 4 billion Yen (USD35.2 million), the Nikkei business daily reported.

 

Newly formed AirAsia X is scheduled to commence its first route connecting Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Australia, in Nov-07.

With plans to eventually establish routes to destinations such as China, India and Japan, AirAsia X had been looking for fresh investment to expand its business, according to Nikkei which did not cite its sources.

Orix will also dispatch a director to the company, the newspaper said.
