Overview - Indonesia AirAsia A solid foundation for future growth Indonesia AirAsia, formerly Awair (Air Wagon International), is a low-cost airline based in Jakarta, Indonesia operating scheduled domestic flights on B737-300 equipment. Launched in Dec-04, AirAsias Indonesian joint venture operation uses six B737-300s to serve six domestic destinations as well as Kuala Lumpur from Jakarta (as well as Surabaya-Kuala Lumpur and Medan-Penang, Malaysia). The company is 49% owned by AirAsia Berhad, with the remainder owned by Indonesian investors. The airlines entire fleet of B737s is to be replaced with new A320s, with the first aircraft arriving in January 2008.
