clickair/Vueling: shareholders approve merger

SPAIN : 90% of Vueling and clickair shareholders voted in favour of the LCCs’ merger in May-2009, giving the go ahead for the combined LCC, to remain named Vueling, to commence operations in Jul-2009. The merger was approved by the EU in Jan-2009, while merger covenants were signed by Vueling and clickair’s Board of Directors on 13-Feb-09 and 18-Feb-09 respectively. Final legal and regulatory requirements are to be finalised by late Jun-2009 or early Jul-2009.

SPAIN : Vueling Airlines increased its February load factor by 2.4 percentage points, growing from 64.6% in 2008 to 67.0% in 2009. In keeping with its improvement plan, Vueling operated an average of 16 aircraft in February, down from 23.5 on a year earlier, concentrating them on serving the most profitable routes.

Vueling and clickair begin cross-selling tickets online

SPAIN : Vueling Airlines increased its January load factor by 5.1 percentage points, growing from 58.9% in 2008 to 64.0% in 2009. Such increase took place in spite of the global economic backdrop. During Jan-09 in keeping with its improvement plan, Vueling operated a fleet of 16 aircraft, 8 aircraft fewer than on a year earlier, concentrating them on serving its profitable routes.

The European Commission authorises Vueling and Clickair to merge

SPAIN : The European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition has issued (09-Jan-09) the necessary authorisation in order for Vueling and Clickair to continue their merger process. Such authorisation will allow Vueling to immediately progress towards the latest stages of the integration process.

SPAIN : Vueling increased its December load factor by 7.4 percentage points, from 63.6% in 2007 to 71.0% in 2008. Quarterly load factor improvement was 0.7 points. During Dec-08, Vueling kept on applying its improvement programme, reducing costs and cancelling non-profitable routes, by operating 8 fewer aircraft than on a year earlier a 33.3% reduction.

SPAIN : Vueling Airlines carried 400.319 passengers during the month of October, reaching an average seat-load factor of 66.2%. During the period, Vueling continued to implement its improvement plan, which entails the cancellation of non-profitable routes and a focus on capturing higher-yielding passengers, via the expansion of business routes and also distribution through traditional travel agents.

SPAIN : LONDON (XFN-ASIA) - Vueling Airlines SA and Clickair, in which Iberia Lineas Aereas De Espana SA holds a 20% stake, agreed on to merge.
