clickair/Vueling: shareholders approve merger

SPAIN : 90% of Vueling and clickair shareholders voted in favour of the LCCs’ merger in May-2009, giving the go ahead for the combined LCC, to remain named Vueling, to commence operations in Jul-2009. The merger was approved by the EU in Jan-2009, while merger covenants were signed by Vueling and clickair’s Board of Directors on 13-Feb-09 and 18-Feb-09 respectively. Final legal and regulatory requirements are to be finalised by late Jun-2009 or early Jul-2009.

SPAIN : Clickair has launched a new initiative, ‘Lock your Fare,’ that guarantees ticket prices for a period of either 24 or 72 hours. This enables travellers to plan their journeys at their own pace without worrying the fare is going to increase. It is a first in the airline sector and is now live on www.clickair.com ready for the peak summer season.

Vueling and clickair begin cross-selling tickets online

SPAIN : Spanish low fare carriers clickair and Vueling have begun (02-Mar-09) cross-selling seats online on all their domestic and international flights in what is the first step toward a joint marketing initiative of the two merging companies.

The European Commission authorises Vueling and Clickair to merge

SPAIN : The European Commission’s Directorate General for Competition has issued (09-Jan-09) the necessary authorisation in order for Vueling and Clickair to continue their merger process. Such authorisation will allow Vueling to immediately progress towards the latest stages of the integration process.
